CITY OF AUSTIN
Public Works – FY23 Q1 Rules Posting

Revised Fibrous Concrete Document

Summary of changes:

  • Include a 6 month maximum timeframe to Trial Batch preparations.
  • Under the Description, update sentence to be “This item shall govern furnishing and placing of fiber-reinforced concrete (also known as concrete reinforced with fibers or fibrous concrete)…”  We added “(also known as fibrous concrete)” to description.
  • Under Materials/Reinforcement, remove ‘C 1116 M’
  • Under Materials/Reinforcement, add a definition for residual strength requirement.  We removed the sentence referencing residual strength.   Residual strength requirements (per ASTM1399) are specified in DMS-4550 for producers who wish to have their fibers pre-qualified and listed on TxDOT’s MPL.  Since we are requiring fibers that are on TxDOT’s MPL, we don’t need to specify residual strength requirements since they would have already been satisfied.  We added ASTM C1399 to the Related Cross Reference Materials list.
  • For the entirety of the spec, remove the space between ‘C 1116’
